Israel is the only country in the region with an Independent and secular Judiciary.
That said it is a fact that the legal systems used today by most Western countries are based on the Biblical Laws of Israel and the Codes of law developed by the Rabbis over many centuries.
This means that in Israel today there is a large amount of compatibility between both the secular and religious laws and of course where they do diverge in areas such as Marriage and Kashrut there is still the independent role of the Beth Din to provide decisions on purely religious issues.
Sadly in most Muslim countries there is only the law of the Dictator or Supreme Religious leader who use the law to maintain their positions of power and control over their people with many of their citizens still being subjected to barbaric religious punishments and arbitrary imprisonment and execution.
